Great tools here, thanks Sabrina! My favorite must be the fresh start effect. Mondays are my most productive days, I'll take that! :)

That's impressive! I have more Monday energy, likely due to post weekend, but I get a boost on Friday too. Working from home more has helped for sure. Environment makes the difference there!

I believe the "seasonality" of our energy should be normalized. Where in nature do we see the fixed rhythm that we have created in the workplace? Monday to Friday, 9-5. Wtf?

Luckily, remote work allows us to follow our inner cycles a bit more. 🙏

Absolutely, and you’ve given me an idea to write about this topic. I know I’m more productive in summer with longer days of sunlight and warmth. I go into hibernation mode in our British winters - it’s like a light turns off for a few months!

This is why remote work is so valuable - if you don’t need physical contact with folks for an energy boost, your curious mind is tonic enough

Looking forward to reading that piece!

My ultimate goal is to be able to follow my seasonality at a 100%. This'll probably mean to have my own micro-business, hence the writing as you know. ;)

This is it!! Building something sustainable enough that it can wax and wane with the seasons and our energy/attention flows.

Great tools, Sabrina. I've used the pair bonding one for paperwork when I have a bit pile to sort out and I don't feel like it (which is always) - I put on an old show like a carry on movie (I've got the dvds) and it makes it more fun.

I also really like the environment aspect of enforcing habits. I first read about it in Willpower Doesn't Work by Dr. Benjamin Hardy.

These are great examples Wendy, thanks for sharing. Life admin with a fun movie is a fab combo. Carry on camping!

Some really great tips here! I especially like the "if..." one and planning for obstacles - like I know I always seem to get distracted when I sit down to write and end up down research wormholes.

I might try turning off the Internet on my computer and see if it helps interrupt that "Oh that's interesting, I'm going to look it up, oh no 3 hours have gone by" cycle 😂 Thanks 🥰💜

I hear you Cassie! Implementation Intentions is a useful tool for that - we come up with solutions to what gets in the way. I go down rabbit holes too during research. I'm splitting the process so I have time to do research and rabbit-holing. I'll tighten up the writing and editing part of the process too. I am faffing with that part of it more than I'd like so going to give myself stricter deadlines and use the choice architecture option so I'm less distracted. The warmer weather means I sit in the garden with cats when I write. It's lovely but less effective!
