I think so many people -- entrepreneurs, creators, corporate soldiers, parents, are all experiencing this decision fatigue and circling that you talk about. I love the education you gave on the body budget and how there isn't just a mental and psychological cost, but a physiological one as well.
It's why my default is to take small steps whenever I can, even if I'm not sure. There are very few decisions that are permanent and irreversible. So for everything else -- just move forward and if you have to, back track once you have more information about what really works for you.
Right now, my problem is not so much indecision, but more about stalling on what I already want to do. I move at a snail's pace for my workshop plan, still writing down notes from brainstorming and research, and doing that slowly. At least I'm still posting Substack notes, publishing blog posts, and writing my fiction.
I'm still too anxious about the workshop, not because I don't think I can do it, but because I attach too much importance to it for my future financial independence. So the feeling of high stakes, makes me keep avoiding it. (Or, in my case, work super slowly, just a tiny bit of work every week, sigh.)
Thanks, Sabrina! Yeah it's funny because I feel confident about my knowledge and even, to some extent, about my speaking skills. But damn, I still feel daunted. It won't stop me, but it's slowing me way down, ugh. Well now I have a Google doc full of more than enough points. I can start putting them on Google slides and try practicing, and time it to see how much I can realistically put in. Since I know I have too much material, I think. Worst comes to worst, no one shows up, and I can make a workshop recording to sell as a low ticket offer in the future.
Yes Sieran! Win-win! Slow progress is still progress. And remember good enough is the aim. You know your stuff and it's now packaging it, practise then set it free!
My first group coaching program got zero sign-ups!
Then my second one had ... wait for it... zero sign-ups!
It wasn't until my third one that I had 15 sign-ups. Still not huge, but a lot more than the first two. And now, in my 5th one -- I might have to cancel it because not enough people are signing up... again.
Don't make it about you. Make it about learning.
You'll never know what works or doesn't work until you launch it.
I believe in you! Do what Sabrina says -- take action. The clarity will come after!
Wow thanks for sharing your experiences, Kathy! Yeah when you're able to handle inevitable disappointments of business, you'll be capable of doing much more! I recall a successful (now making six figures) book coach say that she has a well established business. But sometime last year, even with a waitlist, she didn't manage to fill up all her group coaching spots!
Right now I have enough points in my google doc, and highlighted my favorite ones (which was basically all of them...) I can start putting them onto Google slides and practice, and see how much time it takes. And what I'll have to cut because I have too much material lol.
Loved this post, Sabrina.
Thank you for being so open and vulnerable.

Appreciate you so much and am cheering you on!!
Thanks for your wisdom and comments Kathy.
You're right we're so bombarded with decisions, choices and info.
No wonder we're all feeling overwhelmed and losing self-trust and intuition.
It's all data, even if it feels like a failure or frustrating. Leaning into the curiosity is a nice way to reset.
Hope you've recovered from feeling sick recently.
Your mother's day post looked like such a wonderful and connected day - loved the pics!

This is such a familiar experience Sieran. I've held myself back due to the fear of failure and fear of success.
It's such a visceral response that keeps us stuck.
A useful reframe I've found is switching it to who isn't benefiting from your insights due to anxiety.
Maybe one person turns up but they needed that message or connection.
Or it doesn't work but you've got the info for next time, or other content.
As Kathy has wisely shared, we're all giving it a go and sometimes it works and other times it doesn't.
We do it anyway because we need to share our stories with others.
Even a micro-step is progress!

Thanks so much for your kindness and encouragement, Kathy!
